2015 is the year that Kate DeAraugo is set to make a major comeback to the Australian & international spotlight.

Katherine Jenna "Kate" DeAraugo (pronounced de roosh) was born in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, on November 5, 1985.In her teens, she wrote songs, played piano, did amateur theatre and was a swimming instructor. Winning Australian Idol in 2005 catapulted the bubbly media-savvy talent to national fame.

Signed to SonyBMG, her first single 'Maybe Tonight' debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart and went platinum. Her debut album A Place I've Never Been, which was recorded in a week and released in December 2005, also went platinum. The follow up 'Faded', co-written by The Veronicas, debuted at #8.

She then joined girl group The Young Divas, made up of Idol alumni. Their hits included 'This Time I Know It's for Real' (peaked #2 on the ARIA chart and certified platinum) and 'Turn Me Loose' (#15 peak). Their albums The Young Divas and New Attitude both went platinum. The Young Divas had success in Europe and New Zealand. They broke up in 2008 as the band members wanted to focus on solo careers.

After that, Kate performed in clubs, learned to play guitar, appeared on reality TV and collaborated with writers as she shaped her second solo album. These writers included Lindsey Rhimes (Tina Arena, The McClymonts, The Wolfe Bros), Sven Tydeman. (Josh Pyke) and DNA (The Veronicas, Justice Crew, Marvin Priest, Brian McFadden). The songs were a honest look at the highs and lows of achieving household fame – some of it very public. But they had universal themes, she adds, which can strike a chord with a wide audience.

Story telling and singing with honesty were ingrained into Kate by her mentor and "second mum", Gold Coast based American R&B singer Venetta Fields.

Kate remembers, "Growing up, songs by Pink, James Morrison and Gavin de Graw seemed to be written about my life and what I was feeling, and spoke directly to me. Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Michael Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Robbie Williams & Eva Cassidy gave a piece of their lives, they were so honest in their art."

In February 2015, she also released a track from Arclight Films' Dinosaur Island.
